I am 99.99% sure it would be Kagami who asked Marinette out. The fencer claims to never hesitate, and Marinette will likely take the entire semester to ask her out.

Stein comes in as their new substitute science teacher, but insists on doing some version of dissection and refuses to get out of his rolling chair in every single one of their classes.
naturally, Adrian and Marinette gets suspicious of the guy with a screw through his head. The moment that they realize he is immune to a Akuma's mental side effects is the straw that broke the camels back.
it turns out the DWMA sent him to retrieve the butterfly miraculous, and to make sure the current cat in ladybug users are on the up and up.
The reason why they sent Stein himself is because he can change up his soul wavelength at a moment's notice, and forcefully keep his wavelength unchanged. Making the possibility of Hawk Moth controlling him very low.
The DWMA doesn't normally get involved with the miraculous, but ever since the temple got destroyed, they have been unofficially substituting for them whenever a miraculous is misused frequently.
Dr. Stein decides to sit back and perform his own investigations, and let all the miraculous heroes handle the butterflies. This way he can track Hawkmoth's identity without the villain even knowing it, and give the heroes a powerful ally if they are overwhelmed.
In the meantime, he'll be teaching Marinette, Adrian, and the substitute heroes some basic anti-negative emotions soul wavelengths in some basic Meister skills to prevent them from being Akumatized.
When it comes to Chloe, Stein is someone who will put the girl in her place, and the blond can't do anything about it. The Mayor can't do anything about it legally and even if he could, he doesn't want to get on death's bad side. Plus, even if we remove the DWMA from the equation Chloe quickly realizes Dr. Stein would gladly dissect her if she got on his bad side, regardless of the consequences.
Finally shortly after Dr. Stein learns of her condition, Rose will find herself feeling like a million bucks. But she will quickly learn to sleep with one eye open and find scars all across her body.

Basically hawkmoth akumatises someone in marinette's school into roleswitch with them having the ability to blast someone and randomly "change their role" with someone else. With this change in role giving them another persons life with them even swapping clothes with the person they role change with the akuma even changing the memories of the rest of Paris into thinking that this has always been the case. With this akuma quickly blasting everyone even marinette and adrien thanks to there powers making it so that each time they change someone's role everyones memories are altered so it's like the akuma has appeared for the first time.
With Chloe being blasted and changed into Chloe Dupain-Cheng child of Tom and Sabine who is secretly the hero ladybug who is partnered with fellow female hero chat noir. With this new duo of heroes eventually being able to defeat roleswitch with ladybug using her powers to reverse the damage caused by the akuma.
Unfortunately this also undoes the role switch with Chloe and whoever replaced adrien finding themselves in a Paris back to normal while the true ladybug and chat noir receive the praise for stopping the akuma.
With only Chloe, Tikki and who whoever replaced adrien being the only ones with there memories of there changed roles. As such the duo of former heroes with the help of marinette (who Tikki told everything) have to acclimatise to this new reality.
Plus if you want to make it more tragic have marinette replace adrien so the person helping Chloe acclimatise is her superhero partner/crush who doesn't recognise her.
Sounds like a really good Story idea.
especially when you realized all the possible role dynamics that can be shaken up.
